Prepare

Lie down if possible, or sit with your back supported. Close your eyes.

This practice asks nothing of you except attention. You do not need to relax or change anything. Just notice.

Feet and legs

Bring attention to the soles of your feet. Temperature, pressure, sensation or nothing at all.

Move slowly up through your ankles, calves, knees, thighs. Spend a breath or two with each area.

Hips and belly

Bring attention to your hips. Notice any holding.

Move to your belly. This is often where anxiety lives before it has words. Notice what is here without needing to name or resolve it.

Chest and shoulders

Bring attention to your chest. Notice your breath moving here.

Move to your shoulders. Notice without asking anything of them.

Arms, hands, face

Let attention travel down your arms to your hands and fingers.

Then move up to your neck, your jaw, your eyes, the top of your head.

Hold your whole body in awareness at once. Just as it is.

Return

When you are ready, gently move your fingers and toes. Open your eyes.

You came, you noticed, you returned. That is the practice.

Practice complete.
You visited your body without asking it to perform. That is a different kind of attention.
